Dr. Ray Bareiss
is Director of Educational Programs and Consulting Professor at Carnegie
Mellon West. He was formerly Executive Vice President and Senior Design
Architect at Cognitive Arts, in charge of its New York office. Prior to
joining Cognitive Arts, Ray was Assistant Director of the Institute for
the Learning Sciences (ILS) and an Associate Professor of Computer Science
and Education at Northwestern University. Before joining
ILS, he was on the faculty of Vanderbilt University. As a specialist in
computer-based learning environments, corporate memory and computer-based
performance support, cased-based reasoning and multimedia computing, Ray
served as a senior software designer for many academic and corporate
training courses.
He holds a Ph.D.
in Computer Sciences and a B.S. in Communications from the University of
Texas at Austin. He has worked on academic e-learning courses for Columbia
University in the fields of ESL, Information Technology, Economics,
Physics, and Psychology, and on courses for Northwestern University. Ray
is the author of a number of books and articles.

Wade Vesey is a Venture
Partner for eCarnegieTech, the venture capital arm of Carnegie
Mellon University. He has over 20 years of senior management
experience in software, internet and telecommunications fields with a
number of well-known services and software companies in Silicon
Valley. Roles include being the 11th employee at Nextel
Communications, co-founding the pioneering company in the
machine-to-machine space - Aeris Communications, and playing key
management roles in late stage venture-backed start-ups such as
infrastructure provider Ceon and IP Communications provider Sonim
Technologies. More recent activities include exploring Web
2.0 opportunities for Adobe
Systems.
Mr. Vesey received a BA from
Claremont McKenna College and an MBA from Harvard
University.

Tom
Allen - COO and EVP @Road inc.

Tom Allen is Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice
President. Mr. Allen leads all activities related to systems engineering,
IT architecture, service operations, software development and emerging
products. He is responsible for deploying and operating the @Road
Information Technology infrastructure. This includes providing leadership
for @Road product marketing, products, services, network, computing and
internal systems design and support teams. Mr. Allen has 20+ years of
experience in the IT industry with companies such as Visa International,
Edison International and Atlantic Richfield. Most recently Mr. Allen
served as Vice President of Network Engineering at Visa International
where he led the voice and data network engineering and operations
functions. In this capacity, he played a key role in the rollout of
Visa’s e-Commerce initiatives, enabling Visa to launch key internet
based services including SET (Secure Electronic Transaction) and
Bankruptcy/Fraud Risk Prediction Services. Mr. Allen’s team successfully
built two large fault tolerant internet portal sites in the US and Europe
in support of these programs. Prior to that, Mr. Allen managed the
Technology Integration Division of the IT organization at Edison
International (EI), where he oversaw development projects in the TCP-IP
networking and client/server computing areas. Mr. Allen testified before
the California Public Utilities Commission in support of technology
initiatives and projects at EI. Mr. Allen holds a B.S. degree in
Industrial Engineering from SUNY at Buffalo, an M.B.A. from San Jose State
University and a Certificate in Executive Management from the Peter F.
Drucker Management Center at the Claremont Graduate University.

Brian Murphy - President De Anza College

Brian Murphy joined the De Anza family as its third
president on July 1, 2004, after serving as the executive director of the
San Francisco Urban Institute at San Francisco State University (SFSU).
The Institute is a nationally recognized model of university collaboration
with civic and community-based organizations, bringing together resources
to address issues critical to San Francisco and the Bay Area, including
economic development, workforce preparation, urban environmental
restoration, inner-city education and health, and business and community
development.
Dr. Murphy earned doctoral and master’s degrees in
political science from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in political
science from Williams College.
